Group Studies – On Pause during COVID-19
We have two different times offered for Sunday School classes. Please look at the classes below in order to connect.
*Additional classes and small groups offered throughout the year.
Adult Sunday School Class @ 9am
Friendship Class meets downstairs in the Godwin Educational Building at 9:00 AM. We are the “mature” members of Oakland. We enjoy a lecture type lesson focusing on the truths given in Scripture.
Children’s Church @ 10am
Children’s church (Ages 5 – 10) After the story of “Faith, Hope, and Love,” or children’s message in the sanctuary during worship, children are invited to go upstairs for a time of Bible story, activity/craft, and snack during worship. An adult teacher will walk them to the room following the children’s message.
Youth, Children, & Adult Sunday School Class @ 11:15am
Joyful Noise (pre-K – grade 5) meets in the nursery at 11:15AM. We love to teach our little ones about the love of God. Starting young is crucial to a life long relationship with God. (Godwin building 2nd floor)
Messenger of Faith (Grades 6-12) seeks to help develop ownership of their spiritual story by studying various books of the Bible as well as going through topical studies as they learn to apply and internalize these truths in their daily living. This class meets at 11:15 AM. (Godwin building 2nd floor)
Adult class This class is facilitated by our Pastor Mary Anne and is a time of free flowing discussion. They meet in the Godwin building, 1st floor.
*Other age group classes as need arises
The music ministry at Oakland is a vibrant part of our church life. We are led by Paul Putnam, a gifted musician, teacher, and spiritual leader. There are places for everyone to become involved.
Oakland’s Chancel Choir prepares anthems and special music for each regular Sunday worship service, in addition to preparing Cantatas for Christmas and Easter, and special music for Music Appreciation Sunday. The Chancel Choir is an active participant in the Singspiration events held with local churches and takes its music ministry to the home bound residents of Lake Prince Woods Retirement Community.
The Hand Bell Choir performs at various times during the year bringing hand-bell preludes to the regular worship services.
